Loog
The Loog is the second district of Juist with the coastal museum and the Loogster Huus.
The name "Loog" is of Frisian origin and means village. Here, in the Loog, the islanders settled after the first villages were destroyed by storm tides. Today, the district lies about 2 km from the main village to the west.
The Loog has its own small infrastructure - a supermarket, two restaurants, two bicycle rental companies, guarded bathing beach, dog beach and a beach sports programme in the mornings during the summer months. On the whole, life here is quieter and more leisurely than in the main town. To the west lies the "Domäne Loog", a popular excursion destination. You have a wonderful view of three bodies of water from the "Dree Water Utkiek" viewing platform at the Loog beach access. Three waters? Yes, because here you have an unobstructed view of the North Sea, the Wadden Sea and the Hammersee.
In the Loog you will also find the "Loogster Huus" - the little brother of the Haus des Kurgastes - with a small spa garden, children's playroom and boat pond.
