Juist swimmer

There is a lot of art to see and experience here on our little island: including the statue of the Juist swimmer, a sculpture by artist Christel Lechner that was erected in 2018. The Juist swimmer also has a name and is called Frida. She is sculpted in a ready-to-jump position, as if she is getting ready to jump into the water.
The Juist swimmer Frieda is part of the "Everyday People" series by artist Christel Lechner and clearly shows how ideals of beauty have changed, as Frieda has a normal, not overly thin figure. Instead, she wears a smart swimming costume and a neat swimming cap. In winter, Frieda is protected from the elements with tarpaulins and plastic. So you'll see her best if you come by in summer.
