Janusplatz
Almost in the centre of the village lies the Januspark Juist, a green refuge on the relatively sparsely vegetated island. The place was named after the island pastor Janus, who worked on Juist from 1772 to 1789 and went down in history as the father of the German seaside resort idea. In the small green park stands a 1.50 m high clay jug with a capacity of 900 litres. The clay jug did not always serve as an ornament on Janusplatz. It used to stand in the Trinkkurhalle. It was filled with gravel and served as a filter. The people of Juist affectionately call it "Rumtopf". Today, the Januspark Juist is an oasis of peace and relaxation on the idyllic Töwerland.
On Janusplatz you will find the Lüttje Teehuus and the island boutique, both in restored old island houses from the 19th century. A visit here is worthwhile not only to stop for a bite to eat or to shop, but also to get a feel for life in these old island houses. The Fitness Parcour on Janusplatz was donated by the Juist Foundation to the spa administration in 2013.
