Favourite cycle routes: to the Hammersee

Okay, okay, we admit it: there aren't that many cycle paths on Juist, after all it's a small island. But we still have some favourite routes that we don't want to deprive you of!
One of the most beautiful routes by bike takes you to the car park at the western end of Hammersee. You can get there by heading south from the town, then following the road An't Diekskant, then turning onto Billstraße and stubbornly following the road until you reach the Loog. There it doesn't really matter whether you turn left first or go straight on and then turn left. To appreciate the Loog in all its beauty, it makes sense to do the outward route this way and the return route differently. Continue west until you reach the western end of the Hammersee.
Here you park your bike and set off on foot. Walk around the largest freshwater lake on the East Frisian Islands and pause on one of the viewing platforms for a truly magical view of this unique habitat. Let the sun shine on your face before you make your way back.
