It may seem a little macabre to visit a cemetery on vacation, but consider the following: In cities like Vienna or Paris, the large cemeteries are sometimes one of the absolute highlights of a vacation. But we are Juist and not a world metropolis. Nevertheless, you shouldn't miss the dune cemetery. Here you can admire the gravestones of well-known Juist families, some of which are really artistically decorated. Fritz Hafner, the famous painter and educator, is also commemorated here with a grave of honor. Tribute is also paid to men lost at sea and the unknown deceased.Characteristics

Parts of the dune cemetery on Juist are suitable for people with limited mobility. Some paths are on unpaved terrain and therefore cannot be used. There are benches on site. The path to the dune cemetery is paved and relatively flat.
