Way to the Bill

Bill Reef is the name of the western end of the island. Affectionately called "Bill" by islanders and guests, you will find a small paradise of tranquillity and wonderful nature there. Coming from the village, you swing onto your reliable bike or lace up your comfortable walking shoes and off you go. Follow Billstraße westwards until Billstraße becomes Hammerseestraße in the Loog. There you take the excellent path - keep going. That's the good thing about walking or hiking on Juist: it's not so easy to get lost. You drive (or walk) past the Domäne Loog and can enjoy the dream view of the Wadden Sea. If you're lucky, you'll see pheasants or greylag geese making themselves comfortable on the salt marshes. So far, so good. Now you have already covered most of the way. Keep going straight ahead and head west. If you feel like it, get off your bike and follow the signposted paths through the small forest or make a detour to Hammersee. The obligatory stop for refreshments, a rest and a look at nature is, of course, the Domäne Bill. From there it's only a short walk to the westernmost bicycle park on the island. But beware: the Bill is bigger and wider than you would expect at first glance. If you want to walk around the Bill, it is advisable to pay close attention to the tides and to hurry. In addition, the dunes, like almost everywhere else on the island, may not be entered - to protect the animals and plants living there.
But on the Bill, the clocks tick differently. Often you are all alone on a wide open space and sometimes feel as if you are on another planet. Diligent hikers are also rewarded on the Bill, because if you listen carefully, you can hear the wind and almost see the sand dancing.
This path can be hiked, walked, jogged or strolled. If you are travelling by bicycle, please make sure that you park your bike at the respective bicycle parking area and do not ride along paths that are only intended for pedestrians.
